Idris Roker attained a First Class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath. He remained at Bath to conduct research into real-time operating systems.
WOrking in companies involved in communications, digital signal processing and sonar, he gained extensive industrial experience designing and developing real-time systems.
After some years of part-time lecturing at the University of the West of England, Idris moved into corporate training and set up the training arm of RTD.
